IR-Triazine is a 76% solution of Hexahydrotriazine. It is the Protectol HT Basf biocide equivalent product. This chemical is a formaldehyde-release biocide. And it is particularly suitable for use as a desulfurizer and anti-mildew agent. This Protectol HT equivalen is particularly suitable for use as a preservative in metalworking fluids, adhesives, industrial additives, polymer dispersions, and chain lubricants.
IR-Triazine is a clear, colorless to slightly yellowish solution. And it can be regarded as a high-quality “Hexahydrotriazine” because of the purity, odor, stability, and color.This Protectol HT equivalent is a formaldehyde-release biocide. So the range of activity has similar to that of formaldehyde. Different pH and temperature have different impacts on the release of formaldehyde. In general, the lower the temperature, the lower the amount of formaldehyde. In addition, the release is greater at lower pH.

IR-Triazine can be solved or mixed in all proportions with water, alcohols, glycols, and other polar organic solvents. Same as Protectol HT, IR-Triazine is also used for the preservation of the oil and gas industry. Such as drilling fluid, shelf fluid, completion fluid, and oilfield additive. It is used for the preservation of processing additive and bulk paper in the paper industry.
This product works well as a preservative in alkaline products. It has been found to be particularly effective as a preservative for metalworking fluid concentrates as well as for tank-side addition to the dilute emulsion. This Protectol HT equivalent is compatible with a wide range of raw materials used in the formulation of industrial products.
To inhibit the growth of spoilage microorganisms during manufacture, storage and distribution, Protectol HT may be dosed at between 150–1500ppm based on final formulation volume. Lower concentrations are required if Protectol HT is used together with other active substances.
IR-Triazine is stable for up to 24 months when stored in sealed containers. Used for in-can preservation of water-based paints and for prevention of bulk spoilage during shelf-life.

IR-Triazine is readily biodegradable in the environment, however, the product should not be discharged into the waterways without prior treatment.
