Question 1.The phenomenon of tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate icing.

For many customers, it is incredible to find that tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate is frozen. In fact, as with many chemicals, tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate has a critical point (melting point) between liquid and solid, which is used in Canadian and Russian customers because they are located in cold places.

Low temperatures sometimes reach  -40°C to -50°C, while tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate has a melting point of only  35°C.

Therefore, the majority of foreign customers in the sterilization process using THPS biocide, the surrounding environment must be higher than -35°C.

Question 2. Tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate has a pungent smell at high temperatures.

A very small number of customers use THPS as a scale inhibitor after use or compounding in a high-temperature environment.

After the ambient temperature reaches 111°C, the tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate is highly likely to decompose. The irritating odor of a few customers who have just used the product at ultra-high temperatures may be the decomposition product of tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate.

Of course, the product itself has a certain taste due to the presence of a small amount of formaldehyde. The taste of the two is essentially different.

Therefore, the majority of overseas customers must avoid the extreme temperatures of ultra-high and ultra-low when using tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate (THPS) to sterilize or descale. THPS is mainly used as a biocide, a flame retardant, and the like. The main advantage is that THPS chemical is rapidly degraded into completely harmless substances after use, and thus is widely used in water treatment, oil field, papermaking, and other industries, greatly reducing the environmental impact of such industries. Another tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate (THPS), can also be used for pure cotton, polyester/cotton fabrics.

It can be quickly degraded into completely harmless substances after use. It is also used in fabric flame retardant treatment, leather softening and papermaking industries.
